District 8 - - Cheryl C.

Baylor-All Saints Al-Anon Informational Meetings – The meetings continue. It is sometimes difficult to connect up with AFGs, but once that is done, individuals come forward. Not only are families in pain given hope and service is done, but the members who go feel as if they have done a good thing. Debbie C. still says that she is happy with the meetings.

Pine Street Rehab Possibilities – I’ve been in contact with Michelle H., and she seems excited about Al-Anon informational meetings, but she is slow getting back to me. I called her to make an appointment to go see the facilities, but she didn’t get back to me. She does want the meetings on Saturdays at noon and said there could be as many as 20 – 30 family members present.

No further progress has been made on taking meetings to Pine Street. I can soon find time to pursue this.

AIS had a nice turnout for the AIS celebration on April 18th. Good food, good speakers, friendly faces, we were short on raffle baskets; AIS received the total donations of $260.00.

WTA has come and gone. Thank God for KBDM. The DRs are working together and submitting suggestions to Sue M. for streamlining certain meetings, to work toward a more efficient use of time and less paper in the future assemblies. I personally would like there to be time for an Al-Anon meeting for assembly participants.

District 8 will have a dinner meeting in September, at the Spiral Diner on Magnolia in the hospital district.

Hope and Harmony AFG in Mineral Wells celebrated their first anniversary earlier this month. It was a happy event.

Burleson Old Town AFG seems to be a growing group with a lot of recovery. Bobby T., Alateen Sponsor of Burleson New Beginnings, made it clear that New Beginnings AFG is a functioning group

More than once while visiting groups, I have heard the need for sponsors. When groups are small or new, they don’t have a list to glean from.
